The aim of the study was to determine the feasibility of mobilizing community resources for HIV/AIDS patients in Kalingalinga compound. Following the observation that there is an increase in the number of AIDS cases and that the government has adopted the strategy of community based care of all the patients with AIDS, it has put a lot of financial strain on providing care to such patients.Observations and discussions with the people and literature reviewed at home and abroad have revealed that the families take the burden of caring for their patients at home without expecting any help from the community members. The study was conducted between September 14 - 30th October,1993 which involved a multi staged probability sampling. A random sampling of 50 household heads resident in Kalingalinga was conducted 5 of each household were selected from each section. The sample consisted of both men and women aged between 19-42 years. Findings of the study revealed that there was a lot of willingness among the people to provide resources for the care of HIV/AIDS patients.
