A study on male involvement in family planning in Mpongwe mission hospital catchment area.

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine knowledge, practice and attitude of male involvement in family planning in Mpongwe District. Literature from various scholars on knowledge, Practice and Attitude was reviewed on male involvement in family planning. A non intervention descriptive study design was used in order to identify and explore knowledge, practice and attitude towards contraceptive use by men. The sample consisted of 50 men who were selected using simple random sampling method. The findings revealed that 54% of the respondent's source of information on family planning was the health worker 66% were able to state the benefit of family planning correctly and 80% mentioned unwanted pregnancies as one of the disadvantages of not using contraceptive methods. Most 78% of the respondents had high knowledge levels on male involvement in family planning. All 100% the respondents stated that the nurse's attitude towards clients was positive, 94% stated that they would still go back for review at the same health facility, 80% said that couples should make decisions on family planning together and all 100%, the respondents had a positive attitude towards male involvement in family planning.
