A descriptive study was conducted and a self administered questionnaire was used for data collection. A sample comprised of 50 labour ward midwives who were randomly selected for the study. Data was analyzed manually using a pocket calculator. The results of the study revealed that respondents working in Lusaka urban maternity clinics graduated from all the midwifery schools in the country, with the majority from enrolled midwifery schools. The mean age of the respondents was 38 years. The study further revealed that majority of the respondents 92% regardless of their having been taught the use of partogram at training school, found a different partogram design in the clinics.
